Sitting amid lush green countryside at the base of Mount Meru (4556m), Arusha is one of Tanzania s most attractive cities. Its close proximity to the parks and to Kilimanjaro international airport, makes it the perfect starting point for all safaris. As such its streets are a lively maze of 4WD game viewing vehicles, khaki clad tourists, colourful street vendors and Massai warriors. In recent years the towns profile got a new sheen as it became the headquarters of the revived East African Cooperation (previously the East African Community) and hosted the Rwandan war crimes tribunal. Today Arusha is one of the countrys fastest growing towns.
